Art at 202

For many years I was working as an illustrator and was involved in many projects varying from travel and product design, architecture and publishing. I have taught colour theory, life and visual drawing at Brighton and Eastbourne art colleges and since have had two books published ‘Drawing and Painting Plants and Flowers’ and ‘ Watercolour Workstation’.

I first opened up my house as part of the Brighton Festival in 2000 when I moved into the Fiveways area. I had started to exhibit in galleries, including the Mall Gallery, Medici Gallery, Salamander Gallery and other galleries locally, the West Country and abroad in France, Italy, and Africa. Opening up my house to the public seemed like a somewhat mad yet fun addition to show my, and friends work for a few weekends a year!

Wildlife is a subject that is dear to my heart and one of my early exhibitions was a project at Medici Gallery with the Born Free charity to help raise funds.

But travel is a passion, and sea, landscape and architecture are the predominant draw for me with France, Italy, Greece, Mallorca and New Zealand being recent subjects that I have been lucky enough to study.

In 2016 I became an artist in residence at Glyndebourne Opera House which has been a joy. The lakes and gardens are spectacular with the buildings making a handsome backdrop so I am having my third season painting the scenery and people in this idyllic setting
