Following my training is fashion and textiles I began working in felt around 10 years ago and set up my company TheBigForest in 2012. My current practice is in three strands – more commercial work which is sold online and in shops commissioned three-dimensional felt ‘portraits’ of dogs and work shown in galleries which explores childhood memories, often inspired by vintage children’s books.

Humour and delight are important factors in all my making practice and the greatest compliment is when people smile and then burst into spontaneous laughter when they see one of my felt works.

Much of my work is commissioned and I have recently been working with English Heritage on handmade goods for one of their properties. I also sometimes work in collaboration with Mr Craven: Raconteur who has a separate listing on the Fiveways Artists site.

My work has collectors all around the world particularly in Australia and the US and I have been featured in a wide range of publications and websites including Made in Felt (from the publishers of Mollie Makes), Project Calm, Oh Comely, The Guardian Online and Dill pa Handlaget (Norway).
